I think that the racists should STFU! You know who you are! Putz's ALL!
Great commercial. That this provokes a reaction of any sort other than "Dahhhh, how cute!" is disgusting.
Agreed! I personally didn't see how the commercial could cause an uproar. This confuses me...
I'm with you guys. I think that's completely cute and normal. My cousin is mixed and so are my nephews. How could anything be wrong with that?
I find those that shout loudest about racism, are the ones who are REALLY racist! whether they are black, white or green with red spots!!!! Just give the racism card a rest now! It's getting old and boring!!!!!
So you're claiming that anyone who is opposed to racism and speaks out about the injustice of it is really a huge racist themselves? Sounds like the ridiculous theory that every man who is homophobic is really a closeted gay man. No one should stop protesting blatant racism until it's a thing of the past. And those who claim they're tired of hearing people get angry about racism are the ones who are REALLY racist.
Where, exactly, is this supposed shitstorm happening? This is the only reference to it I've heard of. I've never even seen the commercial. :-S
I really think the commercial is cute!! I laughed when the dad woke up with all the cheerios on him!! I thought our society was beyond such a petty issue! People put on your big kid panties and grow up!!!
I think interracial relationships make the damn cutest kids! It's just a matter of if the parents care enough to take care of their own kids...that's all.
I don't understand why people think this is a problem - I don't see anything wrong with it. Maybe it's because I'm the kid of an interracial couple, but to me it just looks like a little kid amusingly misunderstanding something.
how is this in any way, shape or form offensive? so many simple minded people out there...shame on them!!
I saw this commercial and thought, "uh-oh...they are going to have a field day with this one". Sad to see that I was right. We all bleed the same color.
The funny thing is that had I not heard about this commercial before I actually saw it, I really don't think that I would have noticed the skin color of anyone in the ad. Truly. As a person who came of age in the 60s, I went on civil rights marches not only because they were important to the equality of people of color, they were also about the equal rights of women, like myself. Did I burn my bra during the next phase of equal rights? Hell no! Those suckers cost too much money to burn; I just stopped wearing one! I thought that we live in the age of enlightenment but apparently it takes too much acceptance, for some, to be enlightened. That is sad.
The only thing wrong with this commercial is how sickeningly sweet and fake it is. I see they played it safe too not having the couple even in the same room together let alone interacting. Oh well, it's a start.
My family s that sweet. My daughter is that age and tells on herself if she does something wrong. :-) She is wonderful. :-)
BELIEVE IT, I can't believe we're in the 21st century and this is an issue. Sad. http://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2013/06/06/cheerios-advertisement-biracial-column/2393853/
I just disgusts me that anyone could have a negative reaction to this commercial. Do these goofy a$$ racist people know that there are MILLIONS of mixed people through out the US? Hating on us isn't gonna do a d@mn thing. We're here, and we're not going anywhere. Mixed people have been around for a long time, hell, my dad is mixed as well and he was born in the 40's. This isn't anything new... I am part of a cheerios family and am d@mn proud of it.
UH, WHAT?! What on Earth is sooo wrong with that add? It just shows an adorale family with one of the cutest kids I've ever seen... SOME PEOPLE NEED TO GET A GRIP AND MAYBE GROW THE EFF UP!
I saw the commercial and didn't even notice till someone pointed it out. Um...why does it need to be pointed out? It's not inter-species...oh wait, that's up right after gay marriage. Morons.
I always said I wanted to have puppies not kids! tee hee!
In my experience, people who cry "racist" simply because any non-white person is (or isn't) involved, are racist. Very racist. The term "race conscious" is applied to such people. It's very much like how Islamists claim to care oh so very much about women, while executing them for being raped.
Very cute commercial. I see no issues with this commercial. They are many, many bi-racial families. This could easily be my youngest sis and her husband and daughter. My younger sis's oldest child is Hispanic/white. My oldest daughter's father is Vietnamese. And there would be folks that would claim the 'world ended'. My 3 grandkids are Hispanic, Vietnamese and White.
I remember seeing this on TV while watching with the kids. I threw a ball at my husband and nodded at the TV. :-) He said, so......I said, I've never seen a commercial like that, it's great. Then I saw the cereal on the dad and laughed, so did my husband. My husband and I are Caucasian and our adopted daughter is African American. None of my 3 kids noticed ANYTHING AT ALL. I think they need more stuff like this because NOT having it is only proving we market what sells and REALITY doesn't sell for a lot of jerks out there. I wouldn't want racist jerks buying my product or watching my station anyway. Reality is, interracial families exist. Ignoring it is ignorant.
To be completely honest, I didn't even notice. When I got on the computer and seen there was a "sh!t storm" as they called it, I for the life of me couldn't figure out why and had to read the article, It was only once I read that article, that I realized it was a bi-racial family lol. WHAT IS THE BIG FREAKIN DEAL!!!
